4 reasons to live and work in Cushing…

A Rich History

William R. Little made his homestead on the present site for Cushing in the run of 1891. He donated part of his land to establish the town site. Cushing began to thrive and by 1915 was known nationally for its oilfield. At this time the Cushing fields were producing about 30% of the output of high grade oil in the U.S. There was constant growth and the activity around Cushing was unbelievable. Workers and equipment were being brought in by train, and the activity in the oilfield carried through to the town. Cushing became the talk of the country. The real greatness was not understood until the end of 1915. Cushing’s oil fields were producing 72,000,000 barrels of oil annually. It was over a year before the petroleum trade realized the potential. Today Cushing is known throughout the globe. Oil production not only put Cushing on the map, but also gave it the nickname as the Pipeline Crossroads of the World. To this day Cushing continues to be a major hub for oil activity. Cushing is home to several major pipeline companies, oilfield suppliers, producers, and numerous other oil related companies.
