Gina H
RN – Emergency Room
Ever since I can remember, I’ve always wanted to be a nurse. I grew up watching my grandmother selflessly take care of others, and at age 87, she continues to do this daily. She’s an inspiration to me and I hope to live my life in the same way. Working at Cushing Regional Hospital provides me with the opportunity to do just that.
For the last 12 years, I’ve had the chance to get to know my patients and their stories while working in the emergency room at Cushing Regional Hospital. I can’t imagine a better way to spend my days than to help save lives. I’m also a teacher, helping patients to learn the importance of proper care once they leave our supervision.
My co-workers are like my family, and I’ve truly enjoyed getting to know everyone I’ve worked with. We’re here to help one another, and we enjoy working as a team to improve the lives of our patients - no one is above picking up a bedpan to lend a hand.
Cushing Regional Hospital also affords me the opportunity to continue my education. In this ever-evolving field, it’s important to maintain the latest certifications. The hospital shows their dedication to continuing medical education by paying for classes that specifically pertain to nursing in this area of Oklahoma — such as pipeline and farming accident treatments. It’s a constant rotation of education. That’s because they care about who we are today, and what we’ll become in the future.
